Herman Miller Aeron Review: Still the Benchmark in 2026
A year of full workdays in the Aeron later, here's what holds up — and what doesn't justify the price.
The Herman Miller Aeron has been the default 'serious' office chair for over 25 years, and the current version refines a proven formula. We've used our test unit daily for a year.
It isn't cheap, and it isn't the most comfortable chair for everyone. But for support, cooling and longevity, it's still the one to beat.
ScoutSort Score
Excellent — the long-term benchmark
★★★★⯨Design and build
The Aeron feels engineered. The Pellicle mesh is taut and breathable, the frame is solid with no creaks after a year, and the whole chair exudes the build quality you'd expect from a 12-year warranty.
Comfort and support
PostureFit SL gives genuine, adjustable lumbar support that keeps you upright. The mesh seat suits warm rooms but is firmer than a padded seat — some testers wanted more cushioning over very long days.
Adjustability and fit
Three sizes (A, B, C) mean a real fit rather than a compromise, and the fully-adjustable arms and tilt dial in nicely. There's no adjustable seat depth, which the Steelcase Leap offers.
Is it worth it?
If you sit all day for years, the comfort, cooling and durability justify the outlay — and a 12-year warranty softens it. If budget is tight, the Branch Ergonomic Chair delivers most of the ergonomics for a fraction of the price.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Aeron good for long hours?+
Yes — its support and cooling shine over full workdays, though the firm mesh seat suits some bodies better than others.
Which Aeron size should I get?+
Size B fits most adults; A suits smaller frames and C larger ones. Herman Miller's size chart by height and weight is reliable.
